Artist Biography
Bailey Wilson is a West Virginia native and a lyric baritone who is noted for the energy and life he brings to his roles. A junior at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, Bailey is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Alexander Lee. Recent roles include Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Father in Hänsel und Gretel, and Morales in the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s production of Carmen.
In concert settings, Bailey has been the bass soloist for Faure’s Requiem, featured ensemble for Elijah with the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, and chorus for Brahms’ Nänie with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
This spring he will again take the Marshall School of Music stage to play the role of Bob in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief. He will be kicking the summer off playing the titular role in Gianni Schicchi at Georgia State University’s Harrower Summer Opera; he will then make his musical theatre debut as the Baker in Into the Woods at Queens Summer Vocal Institute at Queens College in New York City.
Bailey has been recognized as a finalist at the Tri-State National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Chapter Auditions. Off-stage, Bailey is the founder and president of the Marshall University Student National Association of Teachers of Singing (SNATS) Chapter, where he works to create opportunities for himself and his colleagues.
